What this site is

JobCost is job costing software, and this site teaches job costing. Everything here is educational: the guides, the free calculators, the industry pages, and every number that comes out of them. None of it is accounting, tax, or legal advice. It is not a substitute for a professional who knows your business, and it should be read as educational material, not as instructions for your specific books.

Calculator results are estimates

The free job cost calculator runs standard formulas on the numbers you enter, and the output is only as good as those inputs. Burden rates, overhead rates, and the practice ranges shown on the site are typical figures, not your figures. Use the results to plan, then validate them against your own books before you commit a bid, a budget, or a contract. Your real overhead split, your actual labor burden, and your market will differ from any default we could choose.

ROI and scenario figures are illustrative

Some pages quote figures like the $120,000 golden job, a 20.2% margin, and the cost of a 5% overrun. Those are worked examples built from the fixed reference job behind our calculators, and they are composite illustrations, not guarantees of what your jobs will return. A tool that pays for itself in one firm can take years in another. We show the arithmetic so you can run your own numbers, not so you can bank ours.

Not financial, tax, or legal advice

We are software makers, not your accountant, tax preparer, or attorney. Lien rules, the tax treatment of labor burden, contract terms, and revenue recognition all depend on your jurisdiction and your situation. Before you make a financial decision on the strength of anything on this site, talk to a CPA or another licensed professional. That conversation is cheap compared to the alternative, which is finding out about a mispriced job at closeout.

No client relationship

Using this site, the free calculators, or our content does not create a client, advisory, or fiduciary relationship with JobCost. Nobody is hired by reading a page, and no duty runs to you until a paid agreement exists. If you want that relationship, that is what the software subscription and a direct conversation are for.
