Why we keep a changelog
Every page on this site shows a review date, and this changelog records what changed and why. If a number, a guide, or a calculator behaves differently from your last visit, the reason is here. We keep the entries short and dated, and we do not rewrite the past.

What changed: The homepage gained three additions: a worked-example breakdown of the $120,000 golden job, a markup-versus-margin explainer, and a cost-code guide. An og-image was added so shared links show a proper preview card.
Why it matters: The golden job is the same reference case behind every calculator on the site: $95,819 total cost, $24,181 profit, a 20.2% margin, and a 25.2% markup. The homepage now walks through that job step by step, which turns the calculator's output into something a bid team can follow. The markup-versus-margin explainer addresses the pricing error we see most often: treating a 25% markup as a 25% margin prices the golden job about $226 short, and that gap compounds across a year of bids. The cost-code guide lists the default codes the software ships with, the same codes used in the worked example.

What changed: The initial public site launched: the free job cost calculator, pricing, features, industry pages, and the support pages you are reading now.
Why it matters: This was day one, and it set the standard the site still runs on. The calculator launched with the golden test case already baked in, so every formula on the site has been checked against the same fixed reference job since the first release.
Review cadence
We re-review this site quarterly: numbers, formulas, links, and this changelog. In between, anything that changes accounting practice, tax rules, or our product gets fixed when it happens and noted here. A quarterly review is a floor, not a reason to wait. If you spot something wrong, tell us on the contact page and we will correct it.
